Special Topics on the Conference in Hangzhou——A Reasonable Layout of a Network of Service Points for the Needs of Communication in the Rural Areas—The Post and Telecommunications Office of Yuci City, Shanxi Province

Situated in the central part of Shanxi Province. Yuci is a city of the county level. The rural areas are the major target of our Postalservice. The city covers an area of 1, 326 square kilometres, including 1, 312 square kilometres of rural areas which account for 98.9 percentof the city's total area.The city has a population of 410, 000. Among them, 247, 700 are rural inhabitants, accounting for 60 percent of thetotal. Basing ourselves on the characteristics of the rural areas of Yuci, we have done our utmost to make postal service convenient for thepeasants. Proceeding from the realities, we have planned and set up a network of service points in the rural areas, with "postalestablishments in all the townships and postal routes to all the villages", thus providing good service for the masses of customers.
