Trying to Find Chinatown: Genuine Cultural Identity of Chinese American

In his one-act play ＂Trying to Find Chinatown＂,based on the different viewpoints of cultural identity of Chinese American and the story of Benjamin,a native American who tries to find his cultural root in Chinatown of New York,David Henry Hwang stresses the fact that the characteristic of national identity is determined by culture instead of skin color,thus he furthers the understanding of genuine cultural identity of Chinese American in multiculturalism.In this thesis,from the perspective of cross-culture,the author tries to analyze the drama to demonstrate and display the playwright＇s perception of authentic cultural identity of Chinese American and the important role of this play in its construction.
