A review of Shibor performance in a vision of its further development

After over five years of development, Shibor has established its position as the benchmark interest rate of China＇s money market and become an important indicator for monetary policy transmission and interest rate changes, which plays an important role in the formation mechanism of interest rate marketization. The article sums up the development experience of Shibor over the five years and examines the way for underpinning the position of Shibor as the benchmark interest rate in the money market. With the strengthening of interest rate marketization and the new period of sustainable development of the financial market, the development of Shibor becomes an increasingly pressing issue which carries substantial significance.
