Experience from Danish banking stability plan

The Danish banking sector is a highly concentrated and competitive industry with its major asset-based business in lending. Since a large number of small and medium-sized banks are restructured from rural credit cooperatives, the outbreak of the international financial crisis in 2008 had a certain impact on the Danish financial industry. The Danish government announced a plan to stabilize the Danish financial market. In practice, the plan, implemented without government funds, effectively resolves the financing problems in the banking sector, ensures the stable operation of the financial system and brings about substantial profits to the Danish government. This article introduces the major policies and measures of the Danish banking stability plan and sums up its successful experience.
