Alignment selection design of expressway in mountainous area

This paper makes a brief introduction on how to carry out the sustainable development strategy in highway construction and expounds the author's views. It introduces the characteristics of expressways in mountainous areas and proposes different views on traditional alignment selection. In conjunction of Xiangxi Section of Changde to Jishou Expressway, this paper contains a discussion of highway alignment selection in mountainous area, from the aspect of deciding the alignment plan in an overall point of view, through analysis of horizontal & longitudinal indices and comparison among local alternatives.
