申办之旅,将绿色融入碧海蓝天早在2007年,中共青岛市委、市政府在谋划后奥运时代经济社会发展战略时就提出,要积极申办世界园艺博览会,使其成为接续奥运影响力、持续提升城市竞争力的重要载体.2009年4月24日,青岛市政府正式向山东省政府提出申办201 4年世界园艺博览会.2009年5月11日,山东省政府批复同意青岛市申办2014年世界园艺博览会.中共山东省委书记姜异康专门致函国家林业局局长贾治邦,表示青岛有条件、有能力办好一届有特色、高水平的世园会.

Green World Gardening Expo and Greening Qingdao

With Qingdao’s successful bid for the 2014 World Gardening Expo, once again, the eyes of the world are focused on Qingdao, a beautiful coastal city. In 2008, as the host city for the Olympic Regatta, Qingdao became the focus of world media, winning attention from people all over the world. In 2009, when bidding for hosting the World Gardening Expo, the delegation from Qingdao enumerated Qingdao’s four advantages and three special characteristics to host the World Gardening Expo, which won full confirmation and high appraisals from all members of the judging panel. The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) consequently authorized Qingdao to host the World Gardening Expo, which becomes another major international event to be held in Qingdao. Thus far, the planning and design at the hosting site Baiguoshan have been completed. In today’s climate of globalization, we are sure that Qingdao will once again win the praises of the world. At the same time, the World Gardening Expo will bring about both short-term and long- term, both direct and indirect and both visible and invisible macro effects and gargantuan value for Qingdao. Through the World Gardening Expo, Qingdao’s ecological construction, urban image, investment environment and cultural characteristics will win extensive attention worldwide, thus constantly promoting Qingdao’s international competence. In 2014, Qingdao will make a display of the power of nature, the beauty of life and the influence exerted on nature by the way we live. As Marco Polo showed the prosperous images of ancient China to the western countries, the World Gardening Expo in 2014 will show Qingdao to the world.
