Top 100 Chinese Foreign Trade Cities

The global economy dwindled again in 2011.The debt crisis in the euro zone kept spreading.Thanks to the economic stimulus taken in 2009,some countries have been trying their best to tackle the fluidity surplus.The emerging markets were also troubled.BRICs,which were considered the strongest drive for the global economy,began to slow down.Some countries,such as Vietnam and India,were fighting the rising prices.Under the pressure of dwindling overseas markets,China has kept relatively steady fiscal and monetary policies,and has made the utmost to refine its developing pattern of foreign trade.Accordingly,the competence of the Chinese cities to do international businesses has also changed.Those cities in East China,especially the Yangtze River Delta Region and the Pearl River Delta Region,began to update their industrial structures.Those in Central and West China have enjoyed a remarkable growth in foreign trade.Boosted by the country’s steady industrialization,informationization,urbanization and globalization,the foreign trade competence of the Chinese cities was generally heightened in 2011.Nearly 90% of the sample cities enrolled in our study had improved the export incomes and the technical values of exported products.This trend may be part of the changes we have expected for so many years.
