| Abstract: | In the seventeenth annual IEA Hayek Memorial Lecture, the author examines the historical connection between individual property and individual liberty. Freehold ownership has been essential to the progress of freedom among the English‐speaking peoples. Accordingly, the protection of private property should be given high priority in our system of law. |
