Analyzing basic principles of the implementation of the development of rural urbanization in Yantai, the essay points out that the core of rural urbanization is developing city economy, executing the medium-city development strategy, which tries to make small cities, central towns and small suburb towns more powerful. It aims at the combination of urbanization and the construction of regional centre cities and builds up modem city system, finally achieving a new harmonious outlook, with the majority of centre cities and the two wings of coastal city clusters in the north and key transportation zones in the south.
