Abstract: | With growing disparities between the levels of material wealth in rich and poor countries, migration appears to be a attractive option for inhabitants of less developed countries. Simultaneously, there has been a growing interest in the potential contribution of good governance to economic development. This paper explores the link between governance and migration, and concludes on the basis of cross-sectional empirical evidence that governance may indeed be a significant factor in determining the rates of emigration from poor countries to wealthy ones. |
