Sweden's export of ball-bearings to Germany during the Second World War attracted remarkably intensive international attention even at the time. Historians have also shown a great deal of interest in these transactions: the export of ball-bearings has rightly been regarded as a kind of barometer of Swedish wartime commercial policy. ¹
