本文根据对互联网上显示的 2 0 0 0年全美前十名大学学者的研究兴趣的观察 ,发现旅游研究已经逐步渗透到这些顶级大学 ,表明旅游研究已经登上世界学术研究的大雅之堂。这些顶级大学的研究领域主要涉及文化旅游及其影响、旅游人类学、生态旅游、太空旅游、户外游憩与解说、旅游文学、自然资源保护、旅游规划设计等。

Tourism Researches in the Top Ten American Universities

An extensive Internet search was conducted to collect data on bibliographic and biographic information of scholars from among the top ten public and private universities in the United States. Content analysis reveals that tourism research has begun to take roots within the top institutions of higher learning, and become a legitimate academic discipline favored by numerous world_renowned scholars. The analysis also indicates that tourism research carried out in these universities encompasses a large scope of topics. They include cultural tourism and its impact, anthropological studies on tourism, eco_tourism, space tourism, outdoor recreation and interpretation, tourism literature, protection of natural resources, and tourism planning.
