The Role of Critique of Poetry:Influences on Ancient Poetry's Creation Principles and Aesthetic Criterion

Critique of Poetry, created by HU Yinglin in Ming Dynasty is a classical monograph on poetry criticism. This paper carefully illustrates the creation principles and aesthetic criterion of all the various poetry forms established in Critique of Poetry and holds the view that some Qing Dynasty ideas on poetry criticism and aesthetic viewpoints has taken beneficial points from that work. Meanwhile, this paper objectively analyzes and evaluates the causes and preconditions for HU Yinglin to establish his principles and criterion as well as their influence from then on.
