一个地区人口的发展状况是影响该地区社会，经济可持续发展的主要因素之一，该文根据人口普查材料，分析了嘉兴市的人口发展特征及趋势，并与浙江省内的其他城市的人口发展做了横向比较，从中归纳出嘉兴哪展特征对经济发展的制约因素，指出：重视人口素质的提高，加强城镇化建设及应对老龄化问题等是今后嘉兴市在人口发展过程中所需解决的主要问题。

The Characteristics of Jiaxing's Population Development and the Countermeasures

The development of the population in a certain area is one of the key factors affecting the suspendable development of the economy there. Having studied the information gathered in the fifth national census, the author analyzes the situation and tendency of the population development in Jiaxing City and compares some datum with that in other cities of Zhejiang Province, then summarizes the factors affecting the development of the economy. As a result, the author points out that Jiaxing should emphasize on how to increase citizens` constitution, accelerate the town building pace and tackle the problems emerged from the aging society.
