Challenges of Transgenic Crops to Ecological Safety and the Countermeasures

The explosive growth in transgenic crop plantings is the largest agricultural technology revolution in recent history.With the popularization and application of transgenic crops,and increasing attention has been paid to their potential environmental risks.The major risks include increased resistance to particular pesticides,gene flow into related plant species,negative effects on non-target organisms and other aspects.This paper described the developing situation of transgenic crops,and discussed the potential impact of transgenic crops on the agroecosystem and the safety of genetically modified food.At last,some ideas about the safety management of transgenic crops in China were putted forward.
