Based on an inductive, longitudinal case study, this paper proposes a framework of joint venture development. The framework is comprised of three overlapping stages of development: formation, adjustment, and evaluation with shorter, cyclical periods. These periods, labeled phases, can be described in terms of alternations between divergence and convergence of two types of group relationships: intra-joint venture relations and boundary group relations. Propositions lay out the development from the formation to the evaluation stage explaining the cyclical nature of divergence and convergence. The framework advances the existing literature on joint venture development by pointing out both micro- and macro-level driving forces and the conditions under which certain developmental patterns emerge.  相似文献

The main purpose of this note is to call attention to the close relationship between the problem of estimating the parameter of a zero-truncated power series distribution and the problem of estimating the parameter of an associated factorial series distribution. Although racial data are no longer available, this article uses a 1997 dataset to compare education spending with the pre-democracy situation. The new government emphasised fiscal resource shifts to eliminate spending discrimination rather than changing educational outcomes. Fiscal resource shifts in education and increased education spending were concentrated in formerly black schools. At the geographic level, non-metropolitan regions gained massively. Yet, as qualified teachers remain scarce in poorer schools, fiscal inequalities have remained, also among black schools. In addition, private resources have considerably supplemented the resources of affluent schools. The large spending shift was mainly a fiscal one (higher teacher salaries in poor schools), although real resource shifts (in pupil/teacher ratios) were not insubstantial. However, poor matriculation results indicate that additional resources, whether fiscal or real, were poorly translated into improved educational outcomes. As equity in education should be measured by equitable educational outcomes rather than equity in educational resource allocation, much work remains to be done.  相似文献

We live in a world of nations, but also one of multi‐nation systems. These systems, or transnational regions, affect global economics, politics and diplomacy. Latin America is a widely recognised and documented transnational region. It contains subregional nation systems that might have all of the characteristics and significance of regions and might also affect the broader integration of Latin America. The author defines regionality on the basis of economic integration and measures it with two methods for Latin America, North America, three Latin American subregional systems and one arbitrarily defined nation system within Latin America. He finds a high degree of integration in Latin America, the Andean nations and the Southern Cone of South America. He finds only a modest degree of integration in North America and not significantly greater integration in South America than in Latin America. The division of Latin America into subregions is consistent with the incidence of sub‐regional trade initiatives in the past two decades and might be at least partly responsible for the limited progress to date towards Latin America‐wide integration. Latin American subregions might now be providing a foundation on which to build regionalism in the future.  相似文献
