Greenmail premia, board composition and management shareholdings

This paper investigates the association between premia paid in targeted share repurchases (greenmail) and the characteristics of the boards of directors. A nonlinear relationship is found between the premium paid and the proportion of shares held by the inside directors. The premium decreases as the proportion of unaffiliated outside directors increases.     

科技企业孵化器运营绩效空间分布及影响因素

为深入研究各省份科技企业孵化器运营绩效空间分布特征及其影响因素，采用2013-2021年各省份样本数据进行实证分析。通过DEA-Malmquist指数模型测算科技企业孵化器运营绩效及其分解效率，探究其空间分布特征，同时采用空间杜宾模型分析影响各省份科技企业孵化器运营绩效的因素。结果表明：国内各省的孵化器运营绩效存在明显差异，导致孵化器运营绩效不佳的主要原因是技术进步减缓；国内科技企业孵化器运营绩效存在显著的空间相关性；经济发展水平、政府支持程度、数字社会建设水平、区域创新活力对科技企业孵化器运营绩效呈显著正向影响且在省份间呈现正向空间溢出现象。基于研究结论，建议通过建立健全孵化网络机制、制定差异化扶持政策、激发区域创新活力等方面进一步推进中国科技企业孵化器运营绩效的提升。     

三亚“价格调控”假日旅游供需矛盾的利弊及对策

三亚今年运用“价格杠杆”调控假日旅游市场供需矛盾，尝试经营假日旅游市场，但它是从局部利益出发的，对海南整体假日旅游经济有不良影响。鉴于三亚旅游对海南整体旅游业发展的重要性，应当处理好局部利益与整体利益的关系，本文立足于海南全省旅游经济发展，分析这一措施的利弊，并提出一些可供选择的方案。

基于锡尔系数的1998～2007年中国区域经济差异分析

研究目的：了解1999年以后陆续实施的中西部开发的政策和措施对中部和西部地带内以及三大地带问差异的影响。研究方法：运用锡尔系数对1998-2007年我国三大经济地带及其所属的省、市、自治区进行差异分解分析。研究结果：了解到政策和措施在不同地带内和三大地带间取得了扩大差异或缩小差异的不同效果，但影响程度偏小，且具有滞后性，并对原因进行了讨论。     

An experimental investigation of soft price caps in uniform price auction markets for wholesale electricity

This paper presents the results from an auction experiment using industry professionals and student participants who compete in a simulated wholesale market for electricity. Motivated by the intervention by FERC in response to the “meltdown” of the California spot market, we investigate the effect of including a “soft” price cap in a uniform price auction as a means of mitigating high prices. When prices are driven above the soft cap, offer curves become flat, in contrast to the hockey stick shape observed in a typical uniform price auction for electricity. This flat offer curve leads to market prices that are relatively insensitive to both generation costs and demand reductions.

近年来,很少有关于兼并和收购的商业话题博得许多研究和媒体的关注。在过去40年来,经济理论提供了许多根据 -关于为什么公司选择从事企业兼并与收购,看法不一。实证研究表明,这些理论最能解释某些类型的并购活动,虽然有些理论似乎是更加适用于某些特定时间段。合并后的公司似乎稍微好一点了。最近的许多研究对将 M&A公司设法将个体公司的市场估值以及整体股票指数跟合并行为以及表现联系起来。     

WHAT MAKES A GREAT JOURNAL GREAT IN ECONOMICS? THE SINGER NOT THE SONG

Abstract This paper analyses what makes a great journal great in economics. Alternative research assessment measures (RAM) are discussed, with an emphasis on the Thomson Reuters Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) Web of Science database. ISI RAM that are calculated annually or updated daily are defined, including the classic 2‐year impact factor (2YIF), 5‐year impact factor (5YIF), immediacy (zero‐year impact factor (0YIF)), eigenfactor score, article influence, citation performance per paper online, h‐index, Zinfluence, PI‐BETA (papers ignored ‐ by even the authors) and two new RAM measures, self‐citation threshold approval rating and impact factor inflation. The data are analysed for the most highly cited journals in economics, management, business and business–finance on the basis of 2YIF. In addition to evaluating research in the most highly cited journals in economics, management, business and business–finance, the paper evaluates alternative RAM, highlights similarities and differences in RAM criteria, finds that several RAM capture similar performance characteristics, and finds that immediacy and PI‐BETA are not highly correlated with other RAM. Harmonic mean rankings of the 12 RAM criteria are also presented. Emphasizing 2YIF to the exclusion of other useful RAM criteria can lead to a distorted evaluation of journal performance and influence.
