This study explores the impact of changes occurring in financial markets on national sovereignty. Sovereignty involves both the authority to rule and the capacity to exercise this rule. Changes now occurring in financial markets and their most important institution, banks, present challenges to sovereignty. Domestic challenges include consolidation, conglomeration, automation, reduction of government banking, disintermediation, and the development of risk transfer markets and mechanisms. International challenges include freeing capital inflows and outflows, foreign control of financial service institutions, regional and supranational economic integration, and the abandonment of national currencies. These often create a web of obligations that may compromise national sovereignty. While sovereignty may not be viewed as absolute in terms of national priorities, and may be in a constant state of negotiation, it is a measure of national strength. Its infringement may produce resentments and dissatisfactions among international agents and within national political structure and render a toll on national growth and development. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to identify opportunities and challenges for internationalizing the small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries. In this article the author examines the internationalization motives and strategies of the managers of these enterprises. A survey was conducted in Tanzania and the effect of the identified opportunities on the decision to internationalize was modeled using the multinomial logistic regression to determine the relationship between the respondent profile and the decision to be taken in the absence of the internationalization opportunities. The results have revealed the existing opportunities including export rehabilitation incentives, schemes as well as institutional supports granted from the governmental and nongovernmental organizations, development partners, and business associations. However, inadequate international business skills, unawareness of existing export promotion programs, poor access to finance, and imperfect foreign market information are the main challenges. Profit and growth goals and saturation of domestic markets are the key drives to internationalization, with indirect exporting being the main internationalization strategy. The need for multinational firms to be as competitive in the global marketplace as possible has increased dramatically over the past twenty years. For international human resource management this has meant many strategic opportunities to international human resource management. An excellent example of such an opportunity is that which exists regarding the management of talent. This opportunity began to develop in the late 1990s with the advent of the challenge of “global talent management.” During the past few years this opportunity has expanded to include challenges dealing with talent shortages, talent surpluses, locating and relocating talent, and compensation levels of talent. Together, these conditions are all “global talent challenges”. Hospitality industry increasingly recognizes importance of integrating revenue management into their operations and significance of their staff to do so. Yet revenue managers face major challenges from both internal and external sources. Hence revenue staff dealing with several sophisticated problems should possess various knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to enable them effectively overcome these obstacles. However which specific capabilities are required to what extent are not clear. Therefore this study aims to match the challenges that are faced by hotel revenue managers with KSAs required in managing inventory and prices. A two step qualitative method is adopted; first 14 revenue managers were interviewed and secondly a focus group with eight participants was conducted in order to identify challenges and competencies required in improving revenue management effectiveness. 知识经济是建立在知识与信息的生产和使用之上的经济。因此,知识经济时代财务资源的配置需要有“相关利益者合作”产权理论及制度作为基石,否则将会加剧财务资本所有者与知识资本所有者之间的矛盾冲突;知识经济时代的财务管理应以无形资产投资为主要决策内容、财务机构的设置应具有灵敏快速的特征、财务人员应具有很强的信息接受处理能力及财务方法创新能力,否则企业财务管理将无法适应外部环境的变化。而我们现有的产权理论及制度、财务人员的素质与财务机构的设置、财务管理的理论与内容,在知识经济到来之时,存在着诸多问题,面临着严重挑战,我们需要积极创新,寻求对策。 相似文献
