金融危机下贸易保护主义的新趋势与中国的对策

金融危机在全球蔓延,世界经济陷入低迷,新一轮贸易保护主义顺势抬头,各国贸易保护壁垒重新筑起,中国的国际贸易环境面临恶化的危险。文章探讨了此次金融危机下贸易保护主义的新趋势,分析了中国对外贸易面临的挑战,并根据中国的实际情况提出了相应的措施。     

How Have Restaurant Firms Responded to Food Safety Crises? Evidence From Media Coverage

Media communication has become a crucial part of crisis communications due to the rapid dissemination of information along with its immense impact on consumers and other stakeholders. Based on a structured content analysis of electronic media reports on restaurant-associated food safety crises from 1993 to 2015, this study examined media reporting patterns focusing on three elements: instructing information, crisis response strategies, and stakeholders. This study also identified the effect of situational factors (severity of risk and crisis type) on the media reporting patterns using Chi-square tests. The results indicated that restaurant firms were more likely to use proactive than passive response strategies, and identified primary stakeholders during a food safety crisis such as regulatory agencies, victims, and customers. Finally, two situational factors were found to influence the pattern of media reporting. The media reporting patterns were found to vary by risk severity and crisis type.     

Guilty by association: The risk of crisis contagion

Crisis contagion, or how a crisis spreads from one company to another, has received very little attention from researchers. This is surprising as the negative consequences of crisis contagion can be significant when customers make assumptions of guilt by association. This article focuses on this important issue and describes four risk factors—country of origin, industry, organizational type, and positioning strategy—that increase the likelihood of crisis contagion. Valuable guidance is also provided on whether a company should issue a denial or remain silent if it faces the risk of crisis contagion.     

Changing International Financial Architecture: Growing Chinese Influence?

It is often said that the 21st century will be the Asian century. Based on population and gross domestic product projections, it certainly looks as if this will be so. Will the existing international financial institutions give more voices, votes, and top positions to Asia? Or will Asia create its own institutions that would rival the old architecture? This present paper argues, first, that China, and possibly India, will be in a position to be so influential that the international financial architecture may have to go through significant changes. Second, the three large crises in the last 20 years have made Asian countries more confident that they can manage capital flows by accumulating large foreign reserves and by adopting sound macrofinancial policies. After 2009, China started to push various initiatives that will amount to creating its own sphere of influence with new regional institutions in the future.

为应对1997年东南亚金融危机冲击,我国政府把西部地区作为基础设施投资重点,取得了加快西部地区发展,同时刺激全国经济持续增长的成功经验。这证明,国家基础设施投资与区域发展战略耦合是一项值得重视的抵御国际金融危机冲击的经济增长策略。当前,为抵御新的国际金融危机冲击,我国政府实施了大规模的基础设施投资计划。国家宜把中部地区作为这轮基础设施投资的重点区域,以收到加快中部地区崛起步伐、营造区域热点、刺激全国经济持续增长的效果。 ?     

美中商业银行分业及混业经营的经验教训与我国未来经营模式的理性选择

美国次贷危机表明,混业经营的快速推进,增加了金融体系的风险传染性和脆弱性,并由此给全球金融业带来了巨大危害。因此,本文在回顾美、中两国商业银行经营模式变迁的基础上,分析了混业经营与次贷危机的关联性,认为应该重新思考我国商业银行的经营模式,维持分业经营的格局。

浅谈对人民币汇率选择的正确认识

本文分析了人们对人民币汇率的认识误区以及我国作为债权国的特殊性,指出人民币之所以采取相对固定的汇率制度,并非为了增加出口而人为操纵汇率,而是为了减轻我国私人部门持有外币资产的风险,从而在一定程度上平衡我国积累的贸易顺差。结合这一特点,本文建议我国在继续稳定汇率的前提下采取措施减少顺差并刺激内需。

提单危机随着国际贸易的不断发展而产生,其中无单放货现象较为典型。从提单的法律属性、保函的作用等层面入手,对无单放货的对策进行探讨,以期有益于法律理论和司法实务。     

The Books of Crisis and Tooke–Newmarch excerpts: a new aspect of Marx's crisis theory in MEGA

Abstract

The paper explores a new aspect of the development of the Books of Crisis: the fact that Marx’s empirical research on the 1857 crisis in these notebooks was undertaken as the direct continuation of his study of Thomas Tooke and William Newmarch's A History of Prices. Our investigation will provide clues to better understand the structure and contents of the documents. Particularly, we provide new evidence for why Marx started his research on the 1857 crisis with the French economy, which managed to steer clear of the crisis, rather than with England, which was already acutely affected by it.
