Cluster Analysis for mixed data: An application to credit risk evaluation

Credit risk is one of the main risks faced by a bank to provide financial products and services to clients. To evaluate the financial performance of clients, several scoring methodologies have been proposed, which are based mostly on quantitative indicators. This paper highlights the relevance of both quantitative and qualitative features of applicants and proposes a new methodology based on mixed data clustering techniques. Indeed, cluster analysis may prove particularly useful in the estimation of credit risk. Traditionally, clustering concentrates only on quantitative or qualitative data at a time; however, since credit applicants are characterized by mixed personal features, a cluster analysis specific for mixed data can lead to discover particularly informative patterns, estimating the risk associated with credit granting.

Predicting the geo-temporal variations of crime and disorder

Traditional police boundaries—precincts, patrol districts, etc.—often fail to reflect the true distribution of criminal activity and thus do little to assist in the optimal allocation of police resources. This paper introduces methods for crime incident forecasting by focusing upon geographical areas of concern that transcend traditional policing boundaries. The computerised procedure utilises a geographical crime incidence-scanning algorithm to identify clusters with relatively high levels of crime (hot spots). These clusters provide sufficient data for training artificial neural networks (ANNs) capable of modelling trends within them. The approach to ANN specification and estimation is enhanced by application of a novel and noteworthy approach, the Gamma test (GT).     

我国家电业上市公司竞争力的因子分析

从集群制造到集群创新的典型案例分析——以张江高科技园区为例

集群制造与集群创新分别代表着产业集群发展的不同阶段，从集群制造发展到集群创新是中国当前和今后相当长的一段历史时期内，国家高新区发展所面临的重大而迫切的现实问题。本文以张江高科技园区为例。对这一问题进行了案例式探讨。分析表明，张江高科技园区三大高端主导产业集群产业链条比较完善，网络集聚特征鲜明并已具备了较为强大的集群制造功能；集群制造也促进了创新要素的快速集聚，产业集群的创新能力得以初步显现。但总体上看，三大主导产业集群的集群制造功能仍然是其主要特征，在向集群创新功能转化的过程中尚存在着一系列突出问题。     

警惕我国企业集群发展中潜在问题

企业集群是当今区域经济发展规划的新趋势 ,引起了多学科领域学者关注。我国已经出现了一些企业集群的雏形 ,但是这些企业集群都存在不同的问题。以东莞、温州及部分的高新区为例 ,从各自的形成过程、发展轨迹等角度 ,讨论了各具特色的区域集群存在的不同性质的问题

Study on the clustering of a typical industry：a case of apple industry in Shaanxi Province, China

The apple industry in Shaanxi Province is a resource-based industry; compared to the best productiveregions at home and abroad, it is advantageous in high quality as well as geographical and natural resources. Currently,big changes have occurred in the apple market supply-demand relations; long-term and comprehensive shortage haspassed; the buyer＇s market has come into being; competitions in the domestic market are fierce. At the same time, theforeign apple will impact on the domestic market, increasing competitive pressure. Foreign anti-dumping measures,green barriers and technologies restrict the exportation of the domestic apple. Based on successful experience of otherindustrial clusters, this paper analyzes the existing problems in the development of Shaanxi apple industrial cluster,combining empirical analysis, qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, proposes specific policy recommendationsand get the conclusions. First, the characteristics of the agricultural industrial cluster are analyzed; Shaanxi appleindustry is characterized by cluster. Second, the rapid development of Shaanxi apple industrial cluster exposes someproblems. Third, we need the government to control the disorderly competition of Shaanxi apple industry.     

个人理财市场细分及客户群差异性分析

目前我国商业银行个人理财业务尚处于初级阶段,个人理财市场的细分还很简单,尚没有进行更深入的、多层次的分析。针对这一情况,本文借鉴“家庭生命周期”的分析思路,选取人口统计变量和家庭生命周期变量等综合指标作为客户细分变量,对给定的调查样本实施市场细分。为此,本文利用方差分析探讨了一般客户、重要客户、未来潜力客户和战略客户4组客户理财个性的差异性以及对银行理财服务质量期望的差异性。同时,还分析这组客户对主要理财工具、理财产品的需求特点,并在市场细分的基础上制定出4差异化的、有针对性的营销策略。
