The antebellum U.S. iron industry: Domestic production and foreign competition

This paper presents new annual estimates of U.S. production of pig iron and imports of pig iron products dating back to 1827. These estimates are used to assess the vulnerability of the antebellum iron industry to foreign competition and the role of the tariff in fostering the industry’s early development. Domestic pig iron production is found to be highly sensitive to changes in import prices. Although import price fluctuations had a much greater impact on U.S. production than changes in import duties, our estimates suggest that the tariff permitted domestic output to be about 30-40 percent larger than it would have been without protection.     

基于粒子群优化支持向量机的冲天炉铁液质量预测

冲天炉铁液质量预测是一项复杂而有难度的技术,受到很多因素的影响。文章提出了基于粒子群优化支持向量机（PSO-SVM）的冲天炉铁液质量预测方法,即将粒子群优化算法（PSO）用于SVM参数优化。它不仅具有很强的全局搜索能力,而且容易实现。经实验结果证明,PSO-SVM的预测输出与实测数据基本一致,其预测精度高于普通的SVM,所有的预测误差都远小于5%的工程许可误差。     

铁矿石取制样标准的研究

铁矿石贸易中,品质检验结果是结算的主要依据之一。取制样工作对品质检验的影响至关重要,不同取制样标准之间的差异可能导致检验结果的差异。本文以ISO标准为主,并对比其他相关标准,对铁矿石的取样、制样标准进行了研究,以期发现其中的差异,供标准的使用者参考。     

Big business with Chinese characteristics: two paths to growth of the firm in China under reform

This paper presents a case study of two large firms which emergedfrom among the ranks of traditional state-owned enterprisesand new entrants: Shougang (steel) and Sanjiu (pharmaceuticals).Rather than being irreconcilable with the market economy, theexperience of these two firms suggests that the Chinese CommunistParty and the People's Liberation Army possessed a rich legacyof organisational and motivational skills. Moreover, Shougangand Sanjiu both grew rapidly through mergers and acquisitionsin the absence of privatisation and a developed stock market.Furthermore, the main reason for Shougang and Sanjiu's successis not special help from the government or the army, but ratherthe fact that its leadership used their autonomy to constructa highly effective business organisation.

食用玫瑰花样品中铁元素含量的测定

采用邻二氮菲分光光度法测定食用玫瑰中微量铁的含量。本次实验中,邻二氮菲—铁有色配合物最大吸收峰的波长为510 nm,该有色配合物具有较好的稳定性,显色剂邻二氮菲的最适使用量为2.0 m L,该法测得福建南靖产食用玫瑰花样品中的Fe2+离子含量为67.26 mg/kg。

针对几种常见的产自巴西和澳大利亚的粉铁矿进行了吸水特性的研究,并对此现象产生的原因进行了深入的分析,通过低温N吸附-脱附试验,发现了其内部结构存在一定的差异,由此导致了各矿种不同的吸水特性,对进口铁矿石的取样及水分测定工作也提出了一定的建议。
