An Examination of the Interaction Between Modelling and Its Relationship with Construction Kits: Lessons from the Past and for the Future

Construction kits have played a significant part in nurturing the growth and development of the minds and manipulation-based skills of children (and adults) in formal and non-formal education settings. These kits have origins rooted in the representation of the built world and now have a diversity of form and function, including technical versions with moving parts. This article examines some of the historically based ideas that lie behind the role that kits may have in terms of physical modelling. The article traces the transformation of kits from simple bricks and blocks into more complicated pieces for space-filling and achieving the transfer of forces and motion. This transformation occurred during the Victorian era when the influence of the ideas of educationalists and, perhaps rather strangely, exponents of early aviation, played major roles in determining the diversity of forms of construction kit and modelled possibilities that are now to be seen in classrooms and homes. The article ends with a review of some of the lessons from the past and present that will need to be considered in relation to concrete modelling in schools for the future. 我国航空运输服务业从宏观上分析具有寡头垄断的市场结构特点,从航线运营的角度分析却具有垄断竞争的特点,因此我国航空运输服务市场还处在重要的发展变革阶段。在我国空运市场特定的经济环境下,旅客的购买决策受到多种因素的影响,航空公司的价格竞争主要表现为不同价格的子舱位数量的决策,并且具有复杂的价格体系。在同一航线上经营的不同企业一方面要针对价格需求弹性大和时间需求弹性大的旅客采取强硬的价格竞争策略；另一方面也要注重差异化价格竞争策略, 避免恶性竞争的发生。     

Discussion on the Particularity and Countermeasures of the Nongovernmental Aviation Companies＇ Financing Environment

On March 11th 2005, the first flight of nongovernmental aviation company means the situation that state capital controls the whole Chinese civil aviation industry has been broken. The nongovernmental aviation companies must face financing problem during their growing process unavoidably. Moreover, compared with other aviation companies in the world, the financing environment of nongovernmental aviation companies in China is very special. This paper has discussed the particularity of nongovernmental aviation companies＇ financing environment in China, and brought out some advice from the angles of government and nongovernmental aviation companies.

国际航空燃油市场虽然持续供于求，但是中国持续出现需求缺口，我们调研了中国国内航空燃油生产商和分销机构等，采用规范和实证的分析方法，提出了一些重要结论：中国航空燃油生产和供给成本高，资源配置效率有待进一步提高，航空燃油需求继续旺盛，新世纪里的十年几需求缺口可能进一步扩大。     

京津冀地区发展民航产业集群研究

本文研究了民航产业集群的构成和民航产业集群（包括民航产业链）的区域经济特征．再分析和总结出机场与产业集群的经济关系，然后论证了京津冀地区发展民航产业集群的优势。一并提出在京津冀地区发展民航产业集群的设想及有关政策建议。     

A method for reducing information asymmetry in destination–airline relationships

We propose a measure of business risk in air travel demand at the route level that can reduce information asymmetry during route development negotiations between tourism destinations and airlines. Aviation-exposed risk (AER) conveys information about the level of uncertainty with regard to air travel demand from an airline’s perspective. Using AER, tourism destinations and air service development teams can evaluate their risks from the perspective of the airline and its network. From there, an assessment can be made as to the value of air services in certain circumstances, including whether a direct underwrite or risk share between airlines and destinations is viable and necessary. By applying a portfolio analysis to an airline’s network, we find evidence that AER does indeed mimic the actual capacity distribution of the network. This provides support for AER as a useful risk measure to be used in practice.     

Flying Australia–Europe via China: A qualitative analysis of the factors affecting travelers' choice of Chinese carriers using online comments data

Recently, Chinese carriers entered the Australia–Europe route, a market currently served by several established airlines. The paper aims to explore and identify the contextual factors affecting the choice of China-based carriers for long-haul travel. The paper's innovation is in the way it uses the online comments made by readers of an aviation news article. In doing so, the paper highlights the advantages and limitations of such a data source and the full range of positive and negative perceptions about Chinese airlines as recorded by potential and actual travelers. This study highlights that in order to understand flight choice, it is worthwhile to consider the conventional itinerary choice factors in the context of the socio-cultural and historical influences. For researchers, the paper provides some evidence that air travelers apply compensatory decision rule in making airline choices. This supports the validity of the assumption of random-utility based choice models used in the study of air travel behavior.     

产业融合背景下的我国通用航空制造业集群发展研究

通用航空产业作为战略性新兴产业,其融合发展既是我国宏观经济发展的需要,也是行业自身发展的需要。立足于产业融合大背景,我国通用航空制造业集群快速发展,形成了激烈的区域竞争,但却在关联性、延展度、根植性等方面普遍存在缺陷。培育集群竞争优势,能够增强区域竞争力,推动各地通用航空制造业在同质化竞争中崛起。因此,应在区位选择、企业培育、网络构建、制度文化、政府定位等方面增强产业集群综合效应,形成差异化核心竞争优势。     

Restoring tourist confidence and travel intentions after disasters: some insights from a rejoinder to a series of unfortunate events in Malaysian tourism

Many countries face a decline in tourist confidence and reduced travel intentions after disasters. However, Malaysia – a country that experienced a series of aviation tragedies throughout 2014 – encountered an overall increase in inbound tourists and monetary receipts. This article more closely examines the effects of these unfortunate events on Malaysian tourism and identifies several strategic avenues that can contribute to restoring tourist confidence and reigniting tourist interest in travelling to disaster-stricken countries.
